  • ASTM C 965 Measuring Viscosity of Glass Above the Softening Point

Equipment and Tools

How to Measure

Viscosity measurement range, temperature range and torque range of a rotary viscometer are approx. 10~108 dPa.s, 1600~600℃ and 0.1~20 N.mm, respectively. Generally, there are two kinds of rotary viscometer; the Couette type viscometer which measures viscosity by rotating a crucible and Searle type viscometer that measures viscosity by rotating a plunge with a fixed crucible. Currently, we have a Searle type viscometer. It measures high temperature viscosity of glass using torque measured under 0~30 rpm speed according to phasic temperature program.
